The new year always brings a lot of excitement. Here at Jim Bass, we eagerly look forward to the arrival of the new 2016 models of all our new cars and trucks. Like kids on Christmas morning our salespeople start going over the new arrivals and finding all of the features and improvements that were added since the previous year so that they can show them to you. A lot of times a vehicle only receives minor tweaks between year models, but sometimes we get something really exciting.

Very soon Jim Bass Nissan will be receiving its first  Nissan Titan XD. The XD is a tremendous change for Nissan. For the first time since 2003 the Titan has been completely redesigned and the changes really help this truck meet the needs of a lot of people here in the Concho Valley. It was built with someone in mind who needs a truck with more power and towing payload capacity than a normal 1/2 ton can offer, but don't want the inconvenience and added fuel cost of a big heavy duty 3/4 or 1 ton truck. To quote one salesman, Nissan is delivering a light duty pickup with heavy duty power.

While only a few people have been able to drive the new Titan before it hits the market, reviews of the Titan XD are overwhelmingly positive. It already earned its first honors as the 2015 Truck of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association at the annual Texas Truck Rodeo. The new truck is powered by the Cummins 5.0L V-8 turbo diesel and offers best-in-class torque and a towing capacity that is competitive with heavy duty trucks and dwarfs those in its size class. That powerful Cummins was also recognized by the TAWA this year as the Best Powertrain.

The Titan XD also has many towing features like integrated trailer brakes, a trailer sway control system, and downhill speed control in tow/haul mode. It also has a lot of nice little extras for use as a work truck: an LED lighted bed, 360 degree cameras, the ability to test your trailer lights with the push of a button on your key fob, and a whole lot more. Or, as our Sales Manager Mack Harper put it, There are 5 reasons why you want to check out the new Titan:
  • #1, the Titan XD is the first true 1/2 ton diesel.
  • the Titan XD  is totally new and has a completely redesigned body style.
  • the Titan XD has a bigger, more comfortable interior.
  • the new Titan now has a Cummins diesel engine.
  • the Titan XD is a perfect mix of a work truck and an everyday truck.
The new diesel Titan XD is the big news this December, but Nissan will follow up with its normal gas V6 and V8 options in a few months. They have also been completely redesigned and are offering better fuel economy and some new cab configurations, including a single cab Titan for the first time. Here at Jim Bass Nissan we will be receiving our first Titan XD at the end of the month and are really looking forward to checking out these new trucks. Come by for a test drive and see why it might be the perfect truck for you.
